Changing Lives at Carrington: A Week of Healing, Hope & New Beginnings
Every week at Carrington tells a story of second chances, resilience, and the power of love — and this past week was no exception. From vet visits to adoptions, health checks to happy endings, we’ve had a whirlwind of a week full of heartwarming moments and hopeful milestones.
Kallax’s Big Day in Preston
We kicked off the week with a trip to the specialist vets in Preston with our beloved Kallax for a consult about his pectus. We’re relieved and so happy to share that while his sternum is a little different, it’s not currently inverted — meaning no surgery for now! He’ll be heading back on **June 3rd** for a follow-up to make sure he continues to grow healthily and comfortably. Fingers (and paws) crossed for this sweet boy.
Vaccinations, Dentals & Adoptions – Oh My!
Charlie, Luke, and Gizmo came in for their second vaccinations, which means they’re now officially ready to find their forever families! Charlie also had his dental work done last week and is feeling much better — fresh teeth, fresh start.
We also had a bittersweet goodbye as our lovely Doris went off to her new home. It’s always hard to see them go, but knowing she’s beginning her new life filled with love makes every moment worth it.
Special Care for Sensitive Souls
One of our albino rabbits visited the vet for some eye drops this week. Albino animals often have extra-sensitive eyes, so a quick check-up and some gentle medication have her on the mend.
Foster Families and New Chapters
Tahini and her two beautiful babies have moved on to foster care — a critical step in their journey, giving them time and space to thrive in a loving, quieter environment.
And we waved a happy farewell to Harley and Charley, who both found their forever homes this week. It’s always a joy to see them off to new adventures.
Ongoing Care and Gentle Progress
Alex, one of our boys rescued in a box with his brother from severe neglect in Partington, has been in multiple times this week for checkups on his bottom. It’s a slow journey, but every day he’s improving — and we’re even seeing little bursts of play from him and his brother, which is a beautiful sign of trust returning.
Teddy and Bear are currently being treated for gingivitis. We're hopeful that with care and monitoring, they won’t need any extractions — but they'll be back in next week for further testing just to be sure.
And Luna, our girl with IBS, is finally stable on steroids and doing brilliantly. She’s happy, comfortable, and will be ready to start her new life in just a couple of weeks!
So Much More Than Just a Week
What a week it’s been — full of vet visits, small victories, and giant leaps forward. Behind every name is a story, and behind every story is a team of people giving their all to change lives — animal and human alike.
We’re endlessly proud of the progress we’re seeing, the love being shared, and the futures being built here at Carrington.
Thank you for following along with us, supporting us, and believing in what we do. Together, we’re making a difference — one paw, one purr, and one tail wag at a time.
